Chef Manager - Wingate University
Job Summary
Wingate University is seeking a passionate and service-driven Chef Manager to lead culinary and kitchen operations within a dynamic campus dining environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who is committed to delivering high-quality food, building strong teams, and creating an exceptional dining experience for students, faculty, staff, and guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily kitchen operations, including food production, execution, and presentation standards
- Develop and maintain creative, fresh, and student-focused menus in partnership with dining leadership
- Supervise, train, and mentor culinary and kitchen team members to foster a positive and high-performing culture
- Ensure all food is prepared and presented according to established recipes, quality expectations, and safety standards
- Manage inventory, purchasing, ordering, and product utilization to support financial goals and minimize waste
- Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
- Oversee scheduling, labor management, and daily staffing needs within the operation
- Support catering and campus events as needed, ensuring exceptional food quality and service execution
- Maintain kitchen equipment, cleanliness, and maintenance programs to ensure a safe and efficient work environment
- Build strong relationships with campus partners and contribute to an engaging dining experience for the university community
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or a related field preferred
- 3–5 years of culinary management experience in campus dining, hospitality, restaurants, or high-volume foodservice environments
- Strong knowledge of food production, inventory controls, and kitchen operations
- Experience managing and developing teams in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding of budgeting, labor management, and cost control practices
- ServSafe certification preferred
- Passion for hospitality, student engagement, and culinary innovation
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
