Launch your leadership career with our comprehensive 6-month Chef Manager In-Training (CMIT) program. This immersive experience provides the skills and knowledge you need to excel as a Senior Living Chef Manager/Executive Chef. Learn directly from an experienced Belmont Village Chef Manager Preceptor at one of our vibrant assisted living and memory care communities, gradually increasing your responsibilities as you grow. Our structured program combines on-the-job shadowing, a comprehensive skills checklist, self-paced online modules, leadership assessments, and hands-on experience. You’ll be guided by your preceptor and the program administrator, developing both technical expertise and essential leadership skills. Successful completion prepares you to apply for Chef Manager positions at Belmont Village.

What You Can Expect

  • Comprehensive Rotational Training: Hands-on experience in all aspects of our Food Service Program, with mentorship by an experienced Chef Manager. You will learn:
    • Leadership skills necessary to manage a high-volume dining service
    • Culinary talent through recipe-based meal preparation
    • Consistent high standards in hospitality-focused food service
    • Effective leadership skills to manage the Food Service team members
    • Understanding and maintaining all regulatory requirements
  • Structured Mentorship and Feedback: Your progress will be supported through regular communication with the Program Administrator and Executive Director Preceptor, including:
    • Monthly meetings
    • Ongoing feedback
    • Self-evaluations
    • Progress reports
  • Career Advancement: Upon successful completion of the 6-month training program and with final approval, you will be promoted to a Chef Manager position, based on the company’s needs and your demonstrated abilities.

You’ll receive personalized support from a dedicated mentor/preceptor throughout this paid training program. While this structure provides invaluable guidance, we also emphasize the importance of self-directed learning. Participants are expected to actively drive their own learning, seek out opportunities to apply new skills, and fully leverage the resources and guidance provided during this unique training period.

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Ideal candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of food service experience, preferably in al-la-carte or banquet service
  • Interest in working with older population
  • Experience with food service Point of Sale (POS) Systems
  • Proficient in workplace technology, including Microsoft Office Suite, basic computer troubleshooting, internet navigation, and video conferencing, and the ability to rapidly learn other new technological systems
  • Ability to work flexible schedules in a 24-hour operation including early mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in written and verbal English
  • Consistent and reliable attendance is essential
  • Must be open and willing to relocate following the training for their first assignment as Chef Manager to any market in which Belmont Village operates
