About the role
The Cook prepares and serves meals that meet nutritional and safety standards while ensuring resident satisfaction. This role supports culinary operations and dining services while maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare meals according to approved menus and dietary requirements
- Ensure food is safely stored, cooked, and served at proper temperatures
- Maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment, including all equipment and prep areas
- Aid in training and mentoring culinary staff
- Monitor and respond to resident preferences and satisfaction
- Uphold safety and health standards, including food safety compliance
- Foster teamwork and contribute to a positive, collaborative work environment
- Report any elder maltreatment or abuse as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one year of food service experience required; three years preferred
- Food Handler’s Permit (as required by state)
- First Aid certification required
- Must be 18 years or older
- Compassion for and desire to work with older adults
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure
