About the role
This role involves preparing food including cleaning and cutting ingredients, cooking main dishes, desserts, and appetizers. Specific tasks include veggie prep, grilling, roasting, soups, stocks, baking, following recipes, ensuring timely food preparation, appealing presentation, checking food freshness, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Cook food in a timely manner
- Ensure appealing presentation
- Check freshness of food for proper storage and rotation
- Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients
- Create prep lists
- Follow specific recipes as directed by Lead Chef
- Comply with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area
Requirements
- Proven work experience as a Chef or Cook
- Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of culinary techniques
- Excellent time management abilities
- Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes
- Familiarity with sanitation regulations and Food Handlers Card
- Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks under extreme pressure
- Attention to detail
- Ability to communicate in a fast-moving environment
- Ability to take and provide direction and work independently with those directions
Qualifications
- Knowledge of baking and pastry techniques
Skills
Leadership skills, ability to take initiative, and strong communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Pay
The expected compensation for this position in California is $24.00 USD - $30.00 per hour.
