Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of all local and state athletic policies
• Maintains high standards for athletes' performance and conduct
• Models standards of conduct in own behavior
• Dresses appropriately at practices and games
• Knowledge of sport
• Knowledge of training and conditioning techniques
• Keeps up-to-date with new coaching techniques and ideas
• Taught appropriate skills for individual athletes
• Supervises athletes at all times
• Checks equipment and facilities for safety
• Oversees preparation for events or practices
• Creates and enforces appropriate team rules
• Uses appropriate emergency/injury response skills
• Encourages leadership among athletes
• Communicates with parents and athletes
• Participates in pre-season meetings
• Meets deadlines for paperwork and other duties
• Maintains athlete records

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Implement policies as required
• Attend all required meetings set by school and MPA
• Emphasize the importance of academics, sportsmanship, and citizenship as part of the athletic philosophy
• Maintain high standards for athletes' performance and conduct
• Model standards of conduct in own behavior
• Read and interpret documents pertinent to position
• Communicate clearly, concisely, and correctly, in speech and writing, to parents, coaches, and athletes
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, athletes, coaching staff, and the community
• Understand budgeting and accounting practices
• Carry items that may be heavy (in excess of 20 pounds)
• Sit for long periods of time
• Occasionally travel by bus
• Work extended hours to meet the demands of the position
• Work in a moderate to excessive noise environment
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
