KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry a caseload of students K–12 requiring individual and/or group counseling for anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, social-emotional dysregulation, behavioral concerns, and adjustment disorders
  • Deliver trauma-informed, culturally responsive, evidence-based interventions aligned to student IEP or 504 mental health goals (CBT, DBT skills, TF-CBT, motivational interviewing, and others)
  • Conduct mental health screenings, risk assessments, and safety planning for students presenting with suicidality, self-harm, or acute emotional disturbance
  • Maintain accurate IEP and service documentation in compliance with IDEA and state standards — supported by Thrive’s AI documentation tools
  • Serve as a first-responder for student mental health crises within the school building; conduct structured risk assessments and develop safety plans
  • Consult with teachers, administrators, and school support teams on student mental health needs and trauma-responsive teaching practices
  • Manage mandatory reporting obligations with clarity, timeliness, and appropriate documentation
  • Support students with Section 504 mental health accommodations alongside IEP-based mental health services

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or related mental health field from an accredited program
  • Active state licensure as LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LSW, LPC-Associate, or equivalent; pre-licensed candidates with a clear supervised hours pathway welcome
  • Active state licensure in good standing, or documented initiation of licensure transfer prior to start date
  • Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, mandatory reporting obligations, and school-based mental health documentation standards

PREFERRED

  • 1+ years of school-based or child/adolescent mental health experience (practicum or internship in a school setting counts)
  • Training in trauma-informed care, TF-CBT, CBT, DBT, or other evidence-based models for youth populations
  • Experience with crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, and safety planning
  • Bilingual (Spanish) — bilingual therapists are strongly encouraged to apply
