Charge Table Operator

About the Role

The Charge Table Operator identifies tube pipes and assists with loading them into the furnace. This position is also responsible for inputting tube pipe information into the MES (Manufacturing Execution System).

Working Conditions

Working conditions are typical for a manufacturing environment, including exposure to heat, cold, grease, dirt, and noise. The role involves:

• Lifting, pulling, and/or pushing materials and products up to 50 pounds
• Standing and walking considerable distances
• Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), such as eye safety glasses, hearing protection, work boots, and hard hats

Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.

Responsibilities

• Identify and verify that the pipe loaded onto the charge table has the correct heat number
• Track heat numbers and sequence counts
• Ensure pipe is available for the rotary arm to pick up
• Complete all paperwork accurately during the shift
• Paint the end of every lot at charged entry and at quench discharge for traceability
• Communicate product details and unfinished duties during operator changes
• Input information into the MES
• Follow all PPE policies and safety rules
• Communicate with the Heat Treat operator regarding product descriptions and loading issues
• Assist the Heat Treat Operator during changeovers
• Count pipes for every heat to ensure alignment with the work order
• Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area, keeping it free of debris
• Operate a forklift and overhead crane as required
• Complete Job Safety Analysis on a daily basis
• Perform all other assigned duties

This position has the authority to stop the charge operation if deemed necessary due to potential equipment damage or bodily danger.

Qualifications

• A High School diploma or GED equivalent is preferred
• Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly and effectively
• Manual dexterity for operating machinery, hand tools, and handheld technical devices
• Knowledge of OCTG (Oil Country Tubular Goods) manufacturing processes is a plus
• Attention to detail and basic computer skills
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime as required
