About the Role

As a Charge Nurse in Progressive Care (NIGHTS), your voice influences patient care through open, collaborative relationships with your manager and formal opportunities via hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You will help shape decisions that elevate patient outcomes and the future of nursing.

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) ensures high-quality, patient-centered care and coordination of all unit/department functions during the designated shift. In collaboration with the management team, the CNC directs, monitors, and evaluates nursing care in accordance with policies/procedures, serves as a resource for staff, and models the organization’s vision, mission, and values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assists with admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Participates in ongoing assessment of patient care services quality in collaboration with the management team.
• Collaborates with subject matter experts and managers to foster teamwork and improve outcomes and service.
• Supports a patient-first philosophy and engages in service recovery when necessary.
• Operationalizes nursing strategies, including employee rounding, hourly rounds, and other initiatives to improve engagement.
• Provides recommendations for interviewing, selecting, and training new staff.
• Recommends and implements actions such as training, conflict resolution, policy compliance, performance evaluations, and disciplinary measures to enhance organizational effectiveness.
• Assists with staff scheduling and manages labor aspects in accordance with patient care needs and productivity guidelines.
• Supports proper inventory control and assists in managing supplies and equipment.

Requirements

• Current Florida license as a Registered Nurse or recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements).
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse (Associate Degree/Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred).
• 1-3 years of experience in a Charge Position is preferred.
