Charge Nurse - Med Surg Urology

About the role

The 6200 Medical-Surgical Unit at TriHealth Bethesda North Hospital is a dynamic 38-bed unit specializing in urology care. Nurses on this unit bring advanced technical knowledge in the field of urology, supported by an in-depth understanding of related pathophysiology and the ability to interpret complex lab results.

Responsibilities

• Captures and coordinates daily patient care with the healthcare team and acts as a resource for standards, policies, and clinical procedures.
• Identifies patient care issues and supports instructors, students, and staff by aligning assignments with patient needs and team competencies.
• Participates in unit committees, quality improvement initiatives, and the implementation of evidence-based best practices.
• Performs and directs specialty-specific nursing skills, executes physician orders accurately, and delegates tasks appropriately to ensure safe patient care.
• Supports department operations, orients temporary or float staff, and facilitates efficient patient flow through the system.
• Demonstrates strong communication, critical thinking, and accountability while fostering collaborative relationships with physicians and team members.
• Promotes staff development through mentoring, continuing education, performance feedback, and serving as a professional role model.

Requirements

• Certification within specialty area within two years of assuming position.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS).
• Autonomy to apply holistic, evidence-based nursing care across diverse patient populations.
• Support for professional development, including BSN attainment and specialty certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2-3 years Clinical in Nursing experience.
• Previous charge or lead experience strongly preferred.

• $5k Sign-On Bonus!

Schedule

• Full Time Days - (72 hours bi-weekly)
• 7:00am - 7:30pm
• Every 3rd weekend rotation
• Holiday rotation
