About the role

The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) is a non-profit Tribal health organization dedicated to serving Alaska Native and American Indian communities. Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient movement from triage through treatment and disposition to minimize wait times and overcrowding.
• Track patient status continuously and prioritize movement based on acuity and capacity.
• Maintain bed availability, staffing, and equipment to ensure efficient use of emergency department resources.
• Assign and reassign beds in real time to optimize space, reduce boarding, and support incoming patients.
• Communicate effectively with clinical staff, ancillary departments, and admissions to streamline care.
• Relay critical updates and activate surge protocols or notify leadership as needed.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement strategies to improve patient throughput and reduce length of stay.
• Ensure patient care processes follow established protocols, prioritize high-acuity cases, and maintain compliance with safety standards.
• Monitor adherence to protocols and help remove barriers to timely treatment and discharge.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
• Non-supervisory - Four (4) years of nursing experience in an Emergency Department.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required.
• Current registered nurse license in the State of Alaska.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN).

• Knowledge of Alaska Tribal Health System, ANTHC, and Alaska Native culture(s).
• Knowledge of emergency department operations, patient flow principles, and triage protocols.
• Effective verbal and written communication across multidisciplinary teams.
• Operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of applications.
• Operating electronic health record (EHR) and bed management systems.
• Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with clinical and administrative staff.
• Managing multiple priorities and tasks concurrently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
• Exercising sound judgment and decisiveness under pressure.
