About the role

Are you an experienced and compassionate nurse looking for your next leadership opportunity? NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a motivated Charge Nurse to join Ward B8 and the Haematology Day Unit at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre. In this rewarding role, you will provide clinical leadership, deliver high-quality patient-centred care and support the development of a skilled nursing team. Working alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will help shape outstanding services for patients receiving specialist haematology treatments. All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Schedule

Full-time, Permanent
Working Pattern: Monday - Friday

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based patient care
  • Support and supervise registered nurses, healthcare support workers and learners within the clinical area
  • Deputise for the Senior Charge Nurse when required and contribute to the effective running of the department
  • Lead on maintaining high standards of nursing practice and patient record keeping in line with professional requirements
  • Support staff development through appraisal, coaching and creation of personal development plans
  • Contribute to service improvement, audit, research activity and quality initiatives within the department
  • Assist with workforce planning, resource management, recruitment activities and day-to-day operational management

Requirements

  • First Level Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Significant post-registration nursing experience within an acute healthcare setting
  • Relevant experience working within haematology, oncology or a related specialist clinical environment
  • Demonstrable clinical leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate and develop a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support patients, families and colleagues through challenging situations
  • Knowledge of professional standards, NHS policies and safe clinical practice requirements
  • Commitment to continuous professional development with relevant post-registration learning and development being desirable
