Job Summary
Provides safe, age-appropriate patient care, and functions as advisor, resource and leader for other members of the patient care team.
About the Role
The position involves providing care in various units including the Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) and the 4A unit, which together have a combined capacity of 35 beds. The role also includes responsibilities in the ER’s North Pod and West Pod areas, which can accommodate adults, adolescents, or children in acute psychiatric crisis.
Responsibilities
- Assesses patient status and implements appropriate interventions
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans
- Monitors patient progress and reports changes to medical staff
- Ensures compliance with hospital policies and procedures
- Provides emotional support and counseling to patients and families
- Trains and mentors new staff members
Requirements
- Formal working knowledge; equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years college)
- Requires knowledge of a specialized field (within 2 years of hire)
- 2 or more years of experience in clinical specialty Nursing
- Certification of specialty area within 3-5 years of hire
- 1-3 years of experience
- Maryland Registered Nurse License
- American Heart Association BLS Certification
