About the Role

Employees in this classification are responsible for nursing care at the unit and implement unit objectives and administrative policies under the clinical supervision of the Unit Director of Nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Operations Oversight
    • Ensure ≥95% compliance with organizational, state, and regulatory clinical standards.
    • Maintain 100% shift coverage with appropriate staff skill mix.
    • Achieve ≥98% timely completion of delegated patient care tasks per shift.
    • Maintain ≤2% medication error rate attributable to delegation/supervision issues.
    • Complete 100% of daily safety rounds and shift reports.
  • Staff Supervision and Development
    • Complete 100% of annual performance evaluations by deadline.
    • Ensure ≥98% staff completion rate for required annual competencies.
    • Document real-time coaching or corrective action within 24 hours of identified issues.
  • Quality and Compliance
    • Maintain ≥98% audit score on internal/external compliance reviews.
    • Initiate 100% of corrective action plans within 5 business days of identified deficiency.
    • Ensure ≥98% participation rate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Clinical Care and Documentation
    • Triage ≥95% of sick call requests within the appropriate timeframe.
    • Maintain average emergency response time ≤2 minutes from call to arrival.
    • Ensure 100% of hospital transfers meet clinical criteria.
    • Complete 100% of CN rounding.
    • Ensure ≥98% of nursing notes are completed by the end of shift.
  • Patient Care Coordination
    • Complete ≥95% of interdisciplinary care coordination documentation.
    • Escalate 100% of high-risk patients per protocol in a timely manner.
  • Communication and Reporting
    • Submit 100% of incident reports within the required reporting window.
    • Complete 100% of shift handoff reports using the approved format.
    • Maintain ≤2% communication-related adverse event rate.
    • Attend ≥95% of required leadership/clinical meetings.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
    • Demonstrate flexibility in supporting operational needs, including cross-coverage and special assignments.
    • Maintain performance standards consistent with primary job functions when performing additional duties.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Two years of nursing experience, with at least 6 months as a Registered Nurse.
  • Possession of a valid, current RN license approved by the Texas State Board of Examiners.
