Position Summary
Title: Chaplain
Location: Downtown Orlando - Orlando Regional Medical Service
Shift: Pool/PRN/Floater (Specifically Weekends, Overnight & Evenings)
About the Role
Provides spiritual and emotional care for patients, their loved ones and team members on assigned unit(s).
Responsibilities
- Requires direct access to Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Documents interventions on the patient chart, including, but not limited to such information as referral source, spiritual assessments, interventions, and follow-up/referral plan.
- Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary clinical team, participating in patient rounds, case reviews, ethics consultations, and advanced directive consults.
- Provides crisis intervention and bereavement support for persons experiencing suffering, tragedy, or loss.
- Performs requested sacramental services, applicable chapel services, and/or arranges for the provision of these services by community clergy.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Education/Training: Master level theological degree is required, with a Master of Divinity being the preferred degree. Master level equivalent theological degrees may be considered. Accreditation by the Association of Theological Schools preferred or a listing in The Database of Postsecondary Institutions and Programs (ope.ed.gov/dapip/).
- Clinical Pastoral Education: Four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education for full time, two (2) units of Clinical Pastoral Education for part-time, one (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education for pool. All units must be recognized by ACPE, APC, NACC, NAJC, CPSP, CPE-I, or ICPT.
- Licensure/Certification: Ordination, licensure, or commissioning and endorsement as a chaplain by a religious body listed in the US Defense Department list of Recognized Religions.
