Chaplain (Non-Exempt)

About the Role

The chaplain is responsible for the provision of spiritual care services to patients, families, and caregivers according to their desires and beliefs, either directly or through coordination of care with other spiritual counselors. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with Mercy's mission, values, and service standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in counseling or related field and specific end-of-life training per state regulations within 90 days of hiring, OR 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education.
• Ordained, commissioned, or credentialed according to the practices of an organized religious group.
• Must be a licensed driver.
• Clinical experience working with patients and families dealing with life-threatening and chronic illness, grief and loss, individual, family, and group therapy.
• Ability to be flexible, open, sensitive, and ecumenical; ability to accept different lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.
• Good oral and written communication skills; good organizational skills.
• Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic computer skills and a working knowledge of Windows, Word, and Outlook.
