About the Role

Provides spiritual care to patients, families, and staff through visitation, pastoral counseling, crisis intervention, bereavement support, and follow-up. Reports to the Manager of Chaplaincy Services.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes a variety of religious and spiritual resources and interventions to access and meet spiritual needs of a diverse patient population.
  • Serves as a resource to staff regarding specific skill demonstration, promotion of knowledge, and communication.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic care.
  • Serves as a resource for patients, families, and staff reflecting on ethical issues.
  • Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for professional growth and development related to job knowledge and skill competence.
  • Participates with the Manager in establishing departmental objectives and processes to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Provides effective mentorship and skills demonstration to peers as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college.
  • Theological education with a Master of Divinity degree or equivalent.
  • Completion of basic Clinical Pastoral Education (minimum of four units of CPE).
  • Ordination or commission to function in ministry by an approved denominational authority.
  • Minimum of one year of pastoral experience, including work with children.
  • Experience in mental health care is a plus.
  • Increased security clearance required for job roles in Medical Tower II: FBI fingerprinting, criminal background check, and Child Proteive Services registry search.

Working Conditions

Patient care environment with exposure to environmental hazards including, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperature. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to patient-related activities.
