Baylor Scott & White The Heart Hospital – Frisco, Texas is preparing to open in Spring 2027. Select roles will begin as early as Summer 2026, allowing team members to complete comprehensive orientation and training at our nationally recognized Baylor Scott & White Heart Hospitals before the Frisco campus opens.

About the Role

The PRN/PT Chaplain 2 offers advanced spiritual care as part of a holistic, multidisciplinary team. Provides compassionate spiritual and emotional support for all Baylor Scott & White Health patients, family members, and staff, regardless of faith background or religious affiliation. Participates in staff training and professional development. Oversees volunteers and residents.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, organizes, and conducts religious services for patients, families, and staff, including weekly worship, memorial services, baptisms, weddings, anointing, and coordinating bereavement needs.
• Provides counseling and other spiritual education activities for employees, students, and patients.
• Supports end-of-life care for patients by offering pastoral support and counseling to patients and families.
• Collaborates with physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, and staff as part of a team to assess patient needs and improve care.
• Conducts pastoral assessments of a patient's spiritual and emotional status and the need for spiritual care.
• Develops relationships with local churches, community agencies, and service organizations that support the Baylor Scott & White Health community.
• Recruits, trains, and coordinates pastoral care volunteers.
• Documents and maintains records of spiritual counseling for patients.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• 2 years of experience in chaplaincy or pastoral care.
• BCC (Board Certified Chaplain) certification required.

Skills

• Knowledge of philosophical systems and religions.
• Knowledge of the principles and methods of pastoral care and the role of a chaplain in an institutional setting.
• Knowledge of the religious beliefs and practices of various faiths, groups, and denominations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Relational and listening skills.
• Ability to counsel and comfort people during periods of stress.
• Ability to purposefully participate as a member of a professional therapeutic team.
