Chaplain I (Evenings)
Job Summary
The Chaplain I position for Spiritual Care provides direct spiritual care for patients, family members, and, as needed, CHOC caregivers. Demonstrates a spiritual presence to all persons that is compassionate, accepting, respectful, and sensitive. Works in situations appropriate to their essential job functions and scope of practice as a member of the healthcare team and with other healthcare professionals in augmenting the work of the Spiritual Care Department.
Experience Required
- Minimum two (2) years of pastoral care experience.
- PREFERRED: One (1) year of healthcare chaplaincy (or equivalent) experience.
- Previous acute care experience.
Education Required
- Master's degree in Theology/Divinity/Spiritual Care and ecclesiastical endorsement.
Training Required
- Two units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
Licensure Required
- RQI Responder – American Heart Association
Specialized Skills Required
- Ability for systematic and collaborative thinking.
- Proficient with computer skills: able to use word processing, email and computer-based charting.
- Ability to facilitate groups and interactions between staff members and be supportive of co-workers in other departments.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good time management skills and ability to work under pressure in rapidly changing work environment, while dealing with multiple concurrent priorities.
Preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
