About the role
Support the successful execution of Pathway’s Hospice mission and Core Values by providing spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and staff during the end-of-life process. The role focuses on addressing the spiritual needs and concerns of those facing terminal illness, offering comfort, guidance, and companionship.
Responsibilities
- Spiritual Support for Patients: Offering prayer, scripture readings, and spiritual counseling, based on the patient's faith tradition or personal preferences, to provide comfort and peace.
- Emotional and Grief Counseling: Helping patients and families cope with the emotional and psychological challenges of terminal illness, including grief, fear, and loss.
- Supporting Families: Providing bereavement support and resources for family members, both during the patient's illness and after their passing.
- Collaboration with Hospice Team: Working closely with other members of the interdisciplinary team, such as nurses, social workers, and doctors, to ensure holistic care for the patient and family.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2 years of experience with Hospice or Palliative Care.
- Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent degree from an accredited seminary or theological school (a plus).
- Completion of a CPE training - Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) certification.
- Prefer Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) or other programs and certifications such as: Board Certification through the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) or the National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC).
- Must be in good standing with the Federal and State Government.
