Chaplain CPE Required

About the Role

The chaplain is an integral part of the hospice interdisciplinary team and is responsible for assessing the spiritual needs of the hospice patient and family. The chaplain must be prepared to care for patients of diverse cultures and/or religious backgrounds, delivering spiritual services in a manner consistent with patient/family beliefs and desires.

This is a PRN position serving the spiritual care needs of patients and families in and around NE Oklahoma.

Responsibilities

• Assess the spiritual needs of hospice patients and families.
• Coordinate spiritual services offered through the hospice staff, local religious organizations, or community clergy.
• Provide funeral services when requested and assist families with planning.
• Offer bereavement support.
• Assist with public speaking and training on spiritual issues, end-of-life concerns, and hospice care for other healthcare providers.

Requirements

• 5 years of related experience and/or training; prior healthcare chaplaincy experience required.
• Exceptional listening skills.
• Knowledge of death, dying, and bereavement preferred, as well as experience with end-of-life issues and hospice services.
• Able to work with individuals while maintaining a commitment to organizational goals.
• Strong knowledge of proper English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• Effective time management skills.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, both face-to-face and by phone.
• Computer skills required; prior experience using electronic health systems preferred.
• Valid driver’s license, personal auto, and current auto liability insurance.
• Satisfactory results from a current TB test.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from an accredited institution preferred.
• At least 2 units of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) with a plan for completing 4 units for certification.
