Schedule

Monday–Friday, 8:30 am–5:00 pm

Responsibilities

• Provide pastoral care support to patients, guests, and staff
• Timely response to all traumas, deaths, and other referrals as paged or called
• Notification of next-of-kin in trauma situations
• Completion of all appropriate decedent affairs paperwork to assure authorization of autopsies and release of body from the hospital in a timely fashion
• Notification of funeral home to release body
• Clear and concise documentation of all pastoral care rendered in both the patient's medical record and the pastoral care on-call log
• Make proactive rounds on patients, guests, and staff
• Provide emotional and/or spiritual support as necessary to patients, guests, and staff
• Liaison with community clergy and Organ Procurement Program, funeral homes, and the Medical Examiner as appropriate
• Share backup on-call responsibilities with other staff as assigned
• Immediate notification to Department Director and/or Senior Director of Customer Relations & Outcomes for issues that warrant response or notification
• Meet training requirements as expected with minimal follow-through required
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management within job scope

Qualifications

Education

• Required: High School Diploma or GED, plus one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education in an accredited CPE program and/or certificate of participation in a chaplaincy program
• Preferred: Bachelor’s and Master of Divinity degrees from an accredited college and theological school

Licensure/Certifications

• Preferred: Denominational ordination and endorsement

Experience

• Required: Less than 1 year pastoral experience in both the church and clinical setting
• Preferred: Three years parish experience and 1–2 years in a clinical setting
