About the role
The Changeover Technician reports to the Production Manager in a food processing environment and is responsible for efficient daily line setup in preparation for the following day's production.
Responsibilities
- Compliance with completing daily production line setup, Food Safety (GMPs), and adherence to all policies, procedures, and protocols within their department are required.
- Having open communication with Senior Changeover Technician(s) and Line Leads is expected in order to increase overall efficiency with expected line start times and initiation of the changeover process.
- Utilizing scheduling documentation to ensure correct material is staged on assigned line and escalate if anything is amiss.
- Expected to confirm optimal line function at start of production sequence in conjunction with Maintenance staff for troubleshooting purposes.
- Proper placement of any machine parts are to be accurately placed in their assigned spot within the Changeover Cage area prior to shift end time.
- Consistent daily overview of line changeover progress with periodic updates sent to Senior Changeover Technician(s).
- Identify problems/machine failures in production during process and work to resolve issues or escalate to proper channels.
- Confirm assigned line has proper material staged at shift inception.
- Final verification of proper line setup prior to production start. Confirmation that machine parts are correctly changed over with acceptable coding reflecting scheduled paperwork.
- Sure all parts replaced on lines are returned & stored in proper position within Changeover cage area.
- Able to cover/assist on lines with similar machinery when needed.
Requirements
- Excellent math skills (must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide).
- Highly developed critical thinking/problem solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment & able to meet setup deadlines consistently.
- Knowledge of basic mechanical verbiage is preferred.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Weekends required as needed.
- Understanding safety guidelines and strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Frequent utilization of hand and finger dexterity.
- Continually required to speak and actively listen.
- Regular attendance and punctuality on a daily basis.
- Able to lift, push, pull, and grasp up to 50lbs. while standing and kneeling for extended periods of time.
- Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short notice.
