CFO Advisory Services Principal
About the role
Baker Tilly is seeking a Principal to help grow our Office of the CFO (OCFO) Advisory practice. This role is designed for an experienced advisor, auditor, consultant, or finance leader who combines a deep understanding of high-performing finance organizations and how the role of the Office of the CFO is evolving in response to growth, complexity, and rising stakeholder expectations with a proven ability to develop business, drive growth, build client relationships, and lead high-performing teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee Office of the CFO engagements across a variety of industries and business environments.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to CFOs, finance leaders, private equity firms, and portfolio company management teams.
- Lead projects involving finance transformation, process improvement, financial reporting modernization, technical accounting, and systems enablement.
- Advise clients through acquisitions, divestitures, carve-outs, integrations, and other strategic transactions.
- Support transaction-related activities, including financial due diligence readiness, accounting assessments, integration planning, and post-close execution.
- Help clients design, build, and scale high-performing finance organizations capable of supporting growth, increasing complexity, and evolving stakeholder expectations.
- Deliver insights and recommendations that improve financial performance, operational effectiveness, and decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to expand relationships and deliver additional value across Baker Tilly’s advisory platform.
- Develop and execute business development strategies to drive revenue growth, expand client relationships, and increase market presence.
- Build relationships with private equity sponsors, investment professionals, attorneys, lenders, and other referral sources.
- Lead cross-functional engagement teams while ensuring exceptional client service and successful project execution.
- Mentor, coach, and develop team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and professional growth.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- CPA preferred; CFA, MBA, or other relevant credentials are a plus.
- 15+ years of experience across audit, accounting advisory, consulting, transaction advisory, and/or Office of the CFO services.
- Demonstrated success developing executive-level relationships and originating advisory opportunities with private equity sponsors and portfolio companies, business owners, CFOs, and finance leaders.
- Experience supporting clients through acquisitions, integrations, finance transformation initiatives, and value creation programs.
- Strong knowledge of finance organizations, controllership, financial reporting, finance transformation, and accounting operations.
- Experience with SEC reporting, IPO readiness, or public company environments is a plus.
- Proven success developing, selling, and growing advisory services.
- Strong leadership, relationship management, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels while delivering exceptional client service.

- Experience leading advisory, consulting, or other client-facing engagements.
- Ability to advise executive leadership teams, help organizations navigate growth and transformation, and deliver meaningful outcomes across complex accounting and finance initiatives.
