Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)

Essential Functions

• Travel to project sites on a daily basis
• Monitor fabrication and construction activities
• Perform welding, structural steel, and related inspections to verify compliance with project plans, specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards
• Review welding procedures
• Inspect welded connections
• Witness or coordinate nondestructive testing activities
• Document inspection findings
• Utilize inspection equipment as required by the project and client
• Prepare Daily Field Reports
• Communicate deficiencies observed in the field to project managers, contractors, fabricators, and/or client representatives
• Interpret project-related drawings and documents
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
• NDT Ultrasonic Testing Certification (UT)
• Completion of OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety and Health Training within a reasonable period of time following commencement of employment
• Ability to review and understand industry standards, plans, and specifications and recognize deficiencies
• Effective communication skills with supervisors, clients, contractors, and inspectors regarding specifications and qualification test results
• Ability to record project data and complete required field inspection reports and documentation
• A valid, acceptable driver’s license and transportation to travel to project sites, as regular daily travel is required
