About the Role

Tender Care Animal Hospital in Peoria, Illinois is seeking an experienced Lead Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to join our team and provide dedicated support for surgery, anesthesia, and dental procedures. This is an excellent opportunity for a technician who wants to fully utilize their skillset with autonomy, trust, and support in a fast-paced, collaborative general practice environment. From induction through recovery, you will play a critical role in delivering safe, efficient, high-quality patient care alongside a veterinary team that values skilled technicians.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating surgical and dental procedure schedules
• Calculating and preparing anesthetic medications and drug dosages
• Inducing, monitoring, and recovering anesthesia patients
• Assisting veterinarians during surgical procedures
• Performing dental prophylaxis and dental radiography
• Monitoring patient recovery and ongoing procedural care
• Guiding clients through patient admission and discharge with confidence and compassion
• Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
• Maintaining accurate, detailed medical records and treatment documentation
• Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
• Identifying patient concerns and supporting efficient case management across the hospital
• Building strong client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service

Schedule

This is a full-time position, with a 5/8 schedule and availability needed Monday-Saturday. Saturdays are on rotation.

Compensation

$18 - $25 per hour, for each hour worked.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3+ years of veterinary technician experience
• Active and good-standing Certified Veterinary Technician in the state of Illinois
• Recent graduates pending VTNE testing and licensure, or out-of-state license-holders who are eligible to transfer a license, are also encouraged to apply
