Certified Veterinary Technician

About the Role

Westside Animal Clinic, part of Thrive Pet Healthcare, is seeking a full-time Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team in Worcester, MA. This position requires working 30-40 hours per week, including a combination of day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to veterinary patients.
• Assist veterinarians with examinations, procedures, treatments, and surgeries.
• Obtain and record patient histories, vital signs, and medical information.
• Perform venipuncture, catheter placement, laboratory testing, radiographs, and other technician-level procedures.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians.
• Monitor patients during anesthesia and recovery.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records.
• Educate clients regarding medications, treatments, preventive care, nutrition, and follow-up instructions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe treatment and patient-care environment.
• Communicate effectively with doctors and the entire veterinary team.
• Support a positive, respectful, and collaborative workplace culture.
• Follow established hospital protocols for patient safety, infection control, and equipment maintenance.

Requirements

• Current CVT credential or eligibility for certification in MA.
• Previous experience in a veterinary clinical setting.
• Strong animal-handling and patient-care skills.
• Ability to communicate professionally and compassionately with clients and coworkers.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Experience in general veterinary practice.
• Strong anesthesia monitoring and surgical-assistance skills.
• Experience with in-house laboratory equipment and diagnostic procedures.
• Familiarity with veterinary practice-management software.

Pay

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience, with a starting rate ranging from $22-$30/hr. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

At Thrive Pet Healthcare - Westside Animal Clinic, we offer primary care for cats and dogs in the Worcester area. Our services include wellness exams, vaccines, spay & neuter, dental care, ultrasound, full-service hospital care, surgical services (foreign bodies, mass removal, c-section, & cystotomy), and end-of-life services. We provide services 6 days a week, allowing flexibility and convenience for our clients.
