Responsibilities
- Conduct recreational therapy services including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions, and discharge leisure planning.
- Utilize individual and/or group activity interventions to address cognitive, social, emotional, or physical needs.
- Educate clients in healthy coping skills and available leisure resources for post-discharge involvement.
- Evaluate client progress and the effectiveness of therapy treatment, recording results daily.
- Attend treatment team conferences to exchange information and observations with the team.
- Assist with the completion of initial treatment plans and progress summary updates.
- Provide therapy services in accordance with current standards of practice.
Shift Options
- Weekdays and weekends: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Evenings: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an approved program required.
- Certification by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) required.
- Experience in a behavioral health hospital setting preferred.
- Employee must be in good standing regarding evaluation/employment history and corrective action to be considered for internal transfer.
