Certified Surgical Technologist, Operating Room, 40 Hours, Days
Purpose & Primary Functions
The Surgical Tech handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
Duties
- Checks Supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure, such as scrubs, gowns and gloves.
- Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment and medications/solutions needed for surgery.
- Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed.
Qualifications
- Licensure/Certification/Registration: BLS Certification
- Surgical Technologist certification required
- Education: Graduate of an approved Surgical Technologist program
- Other Qualifications: Well organized and possess high degree of manual dexterity, 3 years experience in a hospital-based surgical service preferred, Excellent interpersonal, organizational, customer service and communication skills required
- OR equivalent combination of the above
