Certified Surgical Technologist
About the Role
As our Surgical Tech, you'll be an integral surgical team member, providing skilled assistance for safe, efficient procedures critical to patient outcomes. Every day you will prepare the OR (instruments, equipment, supplies) and assist surgeons/nurses by anticipating needs, passing instruments, and maintaining the sterile field. You'll count items, handle specimens, assist with patient positioning, and adhere strictly to aseptic technique.
To be successful, you will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong sterile technique knowledge, and the ability to anticipate needs in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and a steadfast commitment to patient safety are essential.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room with instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist surgeons and nurses by anticipating needs and passing instruments.
- Maintain the sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
- Count items and handle specimens appropriately.
- Assist with patient positioning.
- Adhere strictly to aseptic technique.
Requirements
- One (1) year recent full-time experience in an acute care facility as a certified surgical technologist. May consider experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center where procedures are performed that have the same acuity level or level of complexity as an acute care facility.
- Graduate from high school or equivalent program.
- Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program to include certification.
- Surgical Technology training with 15 units of continued education every year as required by NBSTSA.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the AHA (American Heart Association).
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification through the NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting). Current employees hired before January 1, 2018, are grandfathered and exempt from NBSTSA certification.
- Quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year recent full-time experience in an acute care facility as a certified surgical technologist, including experience with trauma and open heart procedures.
- CST certification provisioned through the NBSTSA preferred, but may be grandfathered in compliance with current Nevada Revised Statutes.

$37.14 - $51.48 per hour
