About the role

As our Surgical Tech, you'll be an integral surgical team member, providing skilled assistance for safe, efficient procedures critical to patient outcomes. Every day you will prepare the OR (instruments, equipment, supplies) and assist surgeons/nurses by anticipating needs, passing instruments, and maintaining the sterile field. You'll count items, handle specimens, assist with patient positioning, and adhere strictly to aseptic technique.

To be successful, you will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, strong sterile technique knowledge, and the ability to anticipate needs in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and a steadfast commitment to patient safety are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room with instruments, equipment, and supplies
  • Assist surgeons and nurses by anticipating needs and passing instruments
  • Maintain the sterile field throughout procedures
  • Count items and handle specimens
  • Assist with patient positioning
  • Adhere strictly to aseptic technique

Requirements

  • One (1) year recent full-time experience in an acute care facility as a certified surgical technologist (may consider experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center where procedures match the acuity or complexity of an acute care facility)
  • Graduate from high school or equivalent program
  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program, including certification
  • Surgical Technology training with 15 units of continued education every year as required by NBSTSA
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification through NBSTSA (grandfathered exemption for current employees hired before January 1, 2018)
  • Quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire (must be completed through facility resources)

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year recent full-time experience in an acute care facility as a certified surgical technologist, including trauma and open-heart experience
  • CST certification through NBSTSA (grandfathered in compliance with Nevada Revised Statutes)

Pay

$37.14 - $51.48 per hour
