Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room before surgical procedures.
- Set up sterile instruments, equipment, and surgical supplies.
- Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures.
- Perform surgical scrub duties during a variety of operative cases.
- Anticipate the surgeon's needs by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment efficiently.
- Assist with orthopedic surgical procedures.
- Assist during Da Vinci robotic surgeries.
- Verify that all surgical equipment is clean, sterile, and functioning properly before each procedure.
- Handle specimens according to facility policies and procedures.
- Assist with patient positioning and surgical preparation.
- Perform instrument, sponge, and needle counts with the circulating nurse.
- Clean, sterilize, and disinfect surgical instruments and equipment following infection control standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation as required.
- Follow all safety, infection prevention, and quality standards.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Assist with departmental duties as assigned.
- Precept and train new staff members when requested.
- Participate in weekend, holiday, and on-call coverage.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred, or current New York State LPN license eligibility.
- Covid vaccination documentation (if available).
- Recent Operating Room experience required.
- Experience with orthopedic and robotic surgical procedures preferred.
Assignment Details
- Contract Length: 13 Weeks
- Shift: 7:00 AM 3:30 PM (8-Hour Days)
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours per Week
- Weekends, Holidays, and On-Call Coverage Required
- 100-Mile Radius Rule Applies
- Overtime available per contract terms
