Certified Surgical Technologist (40 Hours, Days/Evenings)

About the role
The Certified Surgical Tech is a member of the surgical team in the operating room who acts as the primary scrub person handling instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary prior to and during surgical procedures. Provides technical assistance during procedures and patient care within prevailing national and state standards of practice and facility policies. May have additional responsibilities as designated by the OR Manager, including providing patient care in other areas.
Responsibilities
- Understands procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon.
- Ensures quality patient care during operative procedures and maintains vigil for the sterile field.
- Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
- Ensures scrubs and donning of gowns and gloves are completed.
- Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures.
- Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed.
- Helps in draping sterile field.
- Passes instruments and supplies to surgeons during procedures.
- Maintains highest standard of sterile techniques during procedures.
- Prepares sterile dressings.
- Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
- Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of rooms.
- Assists in prepping room for the next patient.
Requirements
- High School diploma.
- Completion of an approved surgical technologist course.
- 1 year of surgical experience.
- Certified as a Surgical Technologist.
- BLS certification.
Pay
Compensation range: $34.65–$51.48 per hour. This range is based on minimum job qualifications; actual base pay considers education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to the position.
