About the role
The trained Surgical Technician shall assist with the nursing care of the patient under the direct and indirect supervision of an OR Registered Nurse. The technician functions as a sterile scrub person caring for patients undergoing surgery within the OR suite. The technician may assist with duties of a circulating nurse under the immediate supervision of a circulating RN. Considers age-related factors in care, treatment, education and evaluation of patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics. Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately in accordance with professional standards and departmental policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist with nursing care of patients under direct and indirect supervision of an OR Registered Nurse
- Function as a sterile scrub person for patients undergoing surgery within the OR suite
- Assist with duties of a circulating nurse under immediate supervision of a circulating RN
- Consider age-related factors in care, treatment, education, and evaluation of patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics
- Apply knowledge of age-related factors in accordance with professional standards and departmental policies and procedures
Requirements
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Completion of Surgical Technician course or equivalent required
- Current license as Surgical Technologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Two years OR scrubbing experience preferred

Pay
Hourly wage estimate: $37.63 - $52.68 per hour. The estimate displayed represents the typical wage range of candidates hired. The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range.
