About the Role
Touchstone Recovery Center is hiring a Certified Substance Use Disorder Counselor to support growth in our organization. As a leading provider of comprehensive outpatient services for individuals struggling with substance use disorders, our multidisciplinary team delivers personalized care, evidence-based treatments, and compassionate support to help clients achieve lasting recovery and improved well-being.
Our SUD counselors play a vital role by providing counseling, running psychoeducational groups, and collaborating with the care team to deliver high-quality mental health treatment to a diverse population experiencing moderate to severe mental illness.
Responsibilities
- Complete admissions/intakes for new clients and assess client needs to recommend appropriate levels of care.
- Make recommendations regarding continuing and aftercare, including follow-up and monitoring.
- Conduct family meetings and provide crisis intervention.
- Facilitate daily educational and/or experiential client groups.
- Create and implement client schedules, coordinating admissions and discharge with the Program Manager.
- Compose and enter daily progress notes and group notes for clients.
- Ensure compliance with documentation, treatment plan reviews, and all DHCS, JCAHO, and state/federal regulations.
- Maintain active certification/license through a DHCS-approved certifying organization.
- Communicate with family and referral sources regarding client progress (with client consent).
- Collaborate with the Program Manager on client consequences and attend mandatory clinical/staff meetings and trainings.
- Prepare group materials and research new methodologies for inclusion in sessions.
- Facilitate transportation when required and participate in scheduled site visits.
- Attend industry-related workshops, trainings, and conferences.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including occasional travel (compensation for mileage, food, and lodging provided).
Requirements
- Current certification through a drug and alcohol credential from a DHCS-recognized institution.
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience as a case manager.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working with culturally diverse individuals or demonstrated commitment to engaging diverse communities.
- Familiarity with equity and/or diversity initiatives within an organization.
- Proficiency in word processing, database, and/or spreadsheet applications.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
- Physical and mental attributes sufficient to perform essential functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in the English language.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Pay
$24 - $28/hour.
