Job Summary and Qualifications
The Certified Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for cleaning, decontaminating, assembling, sterilizing, and storing all reusable surgical instruments for patient care. They also provide instruments for surgeries and other hospital departments.
Responsibilities
- Applies the principles of asepsis to prevent infections and maintain optimal patient care.
- Demonstrates compliance with Patient Safety Initiatives and follows universal precautions.
- Maintains surgery schedules, inspects and tests instruments, and controls sterilization processes.
- Prepares, assembles, and packages instruments for sterilization and distributes them to various departments.
- Ensures compliance with national standards and performs regular machine testing and maintenance.
- Audits trays, verifies instrument counts, and maintains accurate records.
- Attends in-service presentations and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement.”
Experience
- Highschool/GED Required
- 1 year of experience Required
