Requirements
- Licensure / Certification / Registration: Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Licensure / Certification / Registration: Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Education: High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Preferences
- Minimum 5 years of recent, full-time experience as a Sterile Processing Technician in a high-volume hospital setting, with demonstrated proficiency in all phases including decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and case cart preparation.
- CRCST certification (or equivalent) required, along with proven track record of independent operation in decontamination areas without supervision; must provide verifiable references from at least two prior travel assignments confirming no training was needed.
- Extensive hands-on knowledge of AAMI standards, OSHA regulations, and Joint Commission guidelines for sterile processing, including immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS) protocols—applicants unfamiliar with these will be disqualified.
- Experience handling complex instrument trays for specialties such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, and cardiology, with the ability to identify and resolve issues autonomously in fast-paced environments.

Skills

- Knowledge of AAMI standards, OSHA regulations, and Joint Commission guidelines for sterile processing.
- Ability to handle complex instrument trays for various specialties.
- Experience with immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS) protocols.
