Responsibilities
- Conduct group exercise classes and provide assistance in a safe, enthusiastic, thorough, courteous, and professional manner.
- Serve as a positive YMCA role model with an enthusiastic attitude.
- Ensure all scheduled classes are held and secure sub coverage when needed.
- Start and end classes on time.
- Greet participants, learn their names, and take class attendance.
- Familiarize yourself with Upace Group Ex technology, including sub tracking system, class contact feature, and class cancellation.
- Check and respond to your YMCA email in a timely fashion.
- Identify participants’ limitations and adapt classes or provide modifications accordingly.
- Properly and safely utilize all equipment associated with your class.
- Promote a healthy lifestyle.
- Attend advanced training workshops offered by the YMCA of Greater Brandywine or another co-op member YMCA.
- Participate in special events and open houses throughout the year.
- Ensure compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- At least 1 year of participation in group exercise class(es) required.
- Possess and maintain at least one current Group Exercise certificate of completion or specialty certificate from a reputable organization for each specialized group modality.
- Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.

- Ability to plan, lead, and participate in classes and activities.
- Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
