Customer Experience Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy, etc.) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied, etc.).
  • Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
  • Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
  • Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
  • Utilize pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly.
  • Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
  • Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
  • Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies and procedures related to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Strictly adhere to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.
  • Register all related sales on assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required.
  • Assist customers in locating over-the-counter (OTC) products.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
  • Process (correct and resubmit) manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Lead Pharmacy Department inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
  • Maintain knowledge of Company asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
  • Assist and support Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in analyzing and improving pharmacy financial, customer service, and inventory performance data; review Rx KPIs with Store Manager and Healthcare Supervisor.
  • May assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including collecting and properly labeling blood/urine samples from patients and other clinical services as required.
  • Assist pharmacy staff in coordination of clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics, and external providers.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with the local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers, through medical provider detailing and outreach.
  • Support execution of the Pickup program.
  • Maintain the Pharmacy Department by ensuring it is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat, and orderly in condition and appearance.
  • Coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers in the correct use of processes and tools to drive efficiency within the pharmacy.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
  • One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
  • Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy, Health System Pharmacy locations, or in locations where this role is covered under a collective bargaining agreement).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Basic math skills (counting, measuring, and weighing medications).
  • Basic level PC skills (e.g., start-up and shut-down of computer, use mouse to point and click, start and close programs, switch between programs, save files, print documents, and/or access information online).
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.

Training & Personal Development

  • Maintain PTCB or ExCPT certification through the designated PTCB or ExCPT training program and/or state-required certification/registration.
  • Attend training and complete PPLs requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits.
  • Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including the latest news and developments.

Pay

Salary Range: $20.5 - $27.5 / Hourly
