Walgreens Pharmacy Technician role focused on delivering exceptional customer service and supporting pharmacy operations under pharmacist supervision.
Responsibilities
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
- Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
- Model and share customer service best practices, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied).
- Develop strong relationships with high-value customers.
- Assist in pharmacy practice under pharmacist supervision, adhering to state, federal, and company policies.
- Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
- Utilize pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information accurately.
- Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs; verify medicine accuracy and check for interactions.
- Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
- Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to error-related policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
- Strictly adhere to the Good Faith Dispensing policy during all prescription activities.
- Register sales on assigned cash register, collect and handle cash, and assist customers in locating OTC products.
- Handle non-pharmacist telephone calls, including those to physicians.
- Process manual claims for third-party prescription services efficiently and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
- Lead Pharmacy Department inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques and file claims for inventory discrepancies.
- Support Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in analyzing and improving pharmacy financial, customer service, and inventory performance data.
- Assist in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling blood/urine samples, and coordinating with healthcare clinics and external providers.
- Develop and maintain relationships with the local medical community through outreach and detailing.
- Support the Pickup program execution.
- Maintain pharmacy department supplies, cleanliness, and organization.
- Coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers on correct use of processes and tools to drive efficiency.
- Comply with all company policies and maintain respectful coworker relationships.
- Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
- One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (exceptions apply for certain locations).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Basic math skills (counting, measuring, and weighing medications).
- Basic PC skills (e.g., starting/shutting down computers, using a mouse, switching between programs, printing, and accessing information online).
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
Pay
Salary Range: $18.75 - $24.50 / Hourly
