Certified Senior Pharmacy Technician

Walgreens Pharmacy Technician role focused on delivering exceptional customer service and supporting pharmacy operations under pharmacist supervision.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Model and share customer service best practices, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied).
• Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
• Assist in the practice of pharmacy under pharmacist supervision, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy.
• Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
• Utilize pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring accuracy.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs; verify medicine correctness and check for possible interactions.
• Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.
• Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
• Strictly adhere to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all prescription dispensing activities.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required.
• Assist customers in locating over-the-counter products.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including calls to physicians.
• Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services efficiently and perform other clerical duties as assigned.
• Lead Pharmacy Department inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
• Maintain knowledge of company asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving prescription drugs.
• Assist in analyzing and improving pharmacy financial, customer service, and inventory performance data; review Rx KPIs with Store Manager and Healthcare Supervisor.
• May assist pharmacists in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling blood/urine samples from patients.
• Assist in coordinating clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics, and external providers.
• Support the execution of the Pickup program.
• Maintain the Pharmacy Department’s cleanliness, neatness, and adequate supply levels.
• Coach pharmacy technicians and cashiers on the correct use of processes and tools to drive efficiency.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
• One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
• Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy, Health System Pharmacy locations, or where covered under a collective bargaining agreement).

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior work experience with Walgreens.
• Basic math skills (counting, measuring, and weighing medications).
• Basic PC skills (e.g., starting/shutting down a computer, using a mouse, switching between programs, saving files, printing, and accessing information online).
• Knowledge of store inventory control.

Pay

Salary Range: $22 - $29 per hour. The actual compensation offered will depend on factors such as geography, skills, education, experience, and other relevant considerations.
