About the role
This position plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe, clean, and high-performing production environment at Winland Foods. The incumbent will assist with daily sanitation activities, support line employees, and ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Assists with routine and non-routine plant sanitation activities.
- Ensures equipment is clean and food-safe.
- Performs daily inspections and preventive maintenance on sanitation equipment.
- Understands and follows plant policies for placing materials on hold and collecting retention samples.
- Aids in chemical inventory control using FIFO practices.
- Communicates sanitation results to other teams within the plant.
- Fulfills food safety and sanitation compliance requirements.
- Maintains cleanliness and sanitation standards.
- Makes recommendations for improving plant cleanliness and sanitation effectiveness.
- Collaborates with team members, adapts to operational changes, and contributes to productivity, safety, and quality goals.
- Provides backup coverage for multiple roles, shares knowledge with peers, and supports training.
- Assists with SOP development and training.
- Facilitates cross-departmental collaboration.
- Prepares accurate written documentation.
- Participates in 5S efforts.
- Assists in reviewing sanitation paperwork.
- Works with supervisors and team to develop solutions to issues.
- Acts as a 5S champion for the area.
- Documents and communicates effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Provides training, guidance, and feedback to team members.
- Leads projects, identifies skill gaps, and supports multiple initiatives with minimal supervision.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 2 years of work experience in manufacturing or food production sanitation preferred.
- Age 18 or older.
- Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and advise on minor adjustments to formulas or processes.
- Proficiency in SAP, hand scanners, and basic math skills.
- Advanced levels require proficiency in MII, WE systems, and interpreting line huddle measures to resolve issues.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of GMPs, SQF, HACCP, FSMA, and other food safety regulations.
- Commitment to following all company safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, push heavy loads, stand/walk up to 90% of shift, and climb as needed.
- Good hand-eye coordination, motor skills, and 20/20 corrected vision.
- Normal hearing and vision (with correction if needed).
- Wears all required PPE according to the specific manufacturing environment.
- Adheres to all safety policies, including lock-out/tag-out, safe lifting techniques, and others as instructed.
- Exposure to wet, humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high areas, fumes, airborne particles, extreme temperatures, electrical risks, and vibrations.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment and reports any food safety or quality issues immediately to management.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of work experience in manufacturing or food production sanitation.
- Age: 18 years or older.
- Technical Skills: Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and advise on minor adjustments to formulas or processes; mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and resolve quality irregularities; proficiency in SAP, hand scanners, and basic math skills; advanced levels require proficiency in MII, WE systems, and interpreting line huddle measures to resolve issues; computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of GMPs, SQF, HACCP, FSMA, and other food safety regulations.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time; tasks may involve frequent climbing, pulling, pushing, carrying, grasping, reaching, twisting, turning, and stooping; ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently; good hand-eye coordination, motor skills, and 20/20 corrected vision; normal hearing and vision (with correction if needed); exposure to wet, humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high areas, fumes, airborne particles, extreme temperatures, electrical risks, and vibrations.

$24.02 per hour + $1.00 shift differential

10:00p-6:30a, monthly rotating schedule as determined by management
