Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) Full-Time/Night

Job Description

The Certified Respiratory Therapist administers respiratory therapy procedures to examine, diagnose, and treat patients with respiratory and pulmonary disorders. The Respiratory Therapist assesses patient condition and consults with physicians to determine appropriate treatment plans, monitors patient progress following procedures to evaluate effectiveness, and documents all patient care activities to ensure compliance with quality‑of‑care standards and departmental regulations.

Schedule

Every other weekend & on‑call requirements.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co‑workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Collects and analyzes sputum, blood, and breath specimens for diagnosis.
• Performs regular assessments of patients and their equipment to adjust oxygen levels as needed.
• Measures patients’ lung capacity to determine impairments.
• Performs pulmonary function testing and adjusts equipment to obtain optimal therapy results.
• Administers physician‑prescribed respiratory therapy by setting up PFT equipment, oxygen delivery devices, nebulizers, and home ventilation.
• Offers diagnosis results and treatment suggestions based on patient analysis.
• Assists or instructs patients and/or families in breathing exercises and other therapies.
• Communicates, consults, and shares pertinent information with co‑workers and supervisors according to established channels and lines of authority.
• Ensures smooth operation of the PFT and ABG laboratory, or performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Professional competency in the science of Respiratory Care commensurate with the NBRC credential.

Required Experience, Education, Certifications, and Licenses

• Graduate of an AMA‑approved School of Respiratory Care.
• Licensed by the State Board of Medicine or State Board of Osteopathic Medicine.
• Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
• Associate’s (2‑year) degree required.
• Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care.

Preferred Experience, Education, Certifications, and Licenses

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and/or Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) preferred.
• Prior experience in respiratory therapy preferred.

Workday Night (United States of America).
