How You'll Contribute
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of oxygen delivery methods and equipment; monitors for and addresses potential side effects.
- Administers ordered respiratory therapy treatments; understands indications, dosing parameters, and possible adverse effects.
- Sets up and monitors mechanical ventilators; performs associated critical-care duties such as airway management and tracheal suctioning.
- Assesses pain that interferes with function or rehabilitation participation and notifies the physician for appropriate intervention.
- Performs arterial punctures to obtain ABG samples; recognizes potential complications and contraindications.
- Performs EKGs, documents/reports results per department procedure, routes to requesting providers, and files reports appropriately.
- Collaborates with physicians, nursing and rehabilitation staff to coordinate care and optimize outcomes.
- Ensures accurate, timely documentation in the medical record and adheres to infection prevention and safety practices.
- Maintains equipment readiness; follows department policies, competency requirements, and quality improvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy.
- Current state Respiratory Therapist license.
- Current CPR certification (BLS required; ACLS per unit requirements or preferred).
- Three (3)+ years of cardiopulmonary/respiratory care experience highly preferred.
