About the role

Crossing Rivers Health is located in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, a beautiful river town. The Driftless Region offers a variety of year-round activities for individuals and families.

Responsibilities

  • Work 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off schedule
  • Provide anesthesia services including regional, specialty blocks, GETA, local/MAC, obstetric anesthesia, response to emergency situations, and provision of analgesic services.
  • Administer anesthesia services independently and autonomously.
  • Perform diagnostic spinal taps, spinal block proficiency, and epidural proficiency.
  • Manage patient’s airway or pulmonary status, insert arterial catheters, and perform arterial punctures.
  • Insert and remove arterial catheters, perform endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, and extubation.
  • Prepare and administer local, intravenous, spinal, or other anesthetics.
  • Monitor patients’ responses and evaluate their post-surgical or post-anesthesia responses.
  • Discharge patients from post-anesthesia care.
  • Perform pre-anesthetic screenings, including physical evaluations and patient interviews.
  • Respond to emergency situations by providing airway management, administering emergency fluids or drugs, or using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.
  • Insert arterial catheters or perform arterial punctures to obtain arterial blood samples.
  • Instruct nurses, residents, interns, students or other staff on topics such as anesthetic techniques, pain management, and emergency responses.
  • Evaluate patients’ medical histories to predict anesthesia response.
  • Calibrate and test anesthesia equipment.
  • Request anesthesia equipment repairs, adjustments, or safety tests.
  • Read current literature, talk with colleagues, and participate in professional organizations or conferences to stay updated on developments in anesthesia.
  • Manage patient’s airway or pulmonary status using techniques such as endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, respiratory therapy, and extubation.
  • Select, order, or administer adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids, or blood products as necessary.
  • Administer post-anesthesia medications or fluids to support patients’ cardiovascular systems.
  • Disassemble and clean anesthesia equipment.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nurse Anesthesia
  • A minimum of 2 years of autonomous practice as a CRNA
  • Valid WI RN License or Compact State license
  • National CRNA Certification
  • Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP)
  • ACLS, BCLS, PALS, DEA, NRP (preferred)
