About the role
We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Skills & Performance Subject Matter Expert to translate high-level public audit and tax accounting strategies into an actionable, measurable learning blueprint. Your primary output will be collaborating on the high-level program design document (HLD) to establish performance and knowledge objectives for all learning experiences.
Responsibilities
- Competency & Workflow Mapping: Break down complex audit and tax practice area workflows into granular, practice-based performance objectives (what an entry-level CPA must do) and knowledge objectives (what they must know).
- Simulation Blueprinting: Define the guardrails, decision points, and realistic professional mistakes that will form the basis of the scenarios and virtual simulations.
- Program High-Level Design (HLD) Collaboration: Partner with SweetRush’s LXD team to ensure the design document serves as a blueprint to accelerate junior CPA performance and fast-track their path to the next level of professional competency and responsibility.
- Content Guardrails: Serve as the reality check for content depth, ensuring the scope is realistic, accurate, and directly ties back to desired behavioral changes.
Requirements
- A practitioner or technical expert who deeply understands the daily tasks, workflows, and skills in the standard audit practice area.

- Possesses an analytical mind capable of deconstructing their own expertise into clear, step-by-step performance metrics for an early-career learner.
- Analytical, methodical, and energized by turning abstract ideas into structured, execution-ready frameworks.
- Familiarity with instructional frameworks (like mapping learning objectives to simulated environments) is a plus.
- CPA required
Qualifications
Approximate Time Commitment: ~25-35 hours spread across multiple weeks, five (5) SME sessions of ~2 hours each, and asynchronous objective mapping work. Participation in developing a Proof of Concept.
Skills
- Ability to break down complex audit and tax practice area workflows into granular, practice-based performance objectives and knowledge objectives.
- Proficiency in defining guardrails, decision points, and realistic professional mistakes for scenarios and virtual simulations.
- Experience in collaborating with the Learning Experience Design (LXD) team to develop high-level program design documents.
- Knowledge of instructional frameworks and ability to map learning objectives to simulated environments.
