About the role
The Early Childhood Education Services Department at The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area is hiring Certified Pre-School Teachers. The position involves developing, implementing, facilitating, monitoring, and evaluating an Early Childhood Partnership program with children in classrooms. It requires collaboration with a co-teacher and offers training and educational assistance.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and facilitate a comprehensive Early Childhood Partnership program
- Monitor and maintain the classroom environment, addressing attendance, cleanliness, minor repairs, health and safety issues, and ensuring proper supplies
- Assess and monitor the developmental level of each child, conduct Early Childhood Partnership program assessments, and facilitate referrals for evaluations as necessary
- Ensure completion of all paperwork on a timely basis, including attendance, meal counts, lesson plans, daily health checks, fire drill records, narratives, and daily notes
- Support, supervise, and encourage the professional development of all child care staff and volunteers through team meetings, shared program planning, and day-to-day interactions
- Engage in ongoing teacher/parent communication to facilitate parent participation and involvement
- Participate in meetings such as initial orientations, supervision, team meetings, staff meetings, in-services, and training sessions with Syracuse City School District and Partnership programs
- Demonstrate cultural competence and integrate understanding into daily responsibilities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education
- Active NYS Teacher Certification, eligible for the $1500 licensed teacher supplement
- One year experience working with children ages 3 to 5 years old
- Meet NYS/Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations requirements
- Meet health standards for OCFS licensing, capable of lifting up to 40 pounds, and participating in all developmentally appropriate activities

$22.00- $26.00/hr
