Certified Pharmacy Technician - Long Care Pharmacy
Job Summary
The Pharmacist Assistant serves the Long Term Care Pharmacy in the technical functions of the practice of long term care pharmacy, enabling the pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical care functions. An integral part of the pharmacy team, the technician transcribes prescriptions to the pharmacy dispensing system, bills insurance, packages and labels medications, assists with inventory control, and provides exceptional customer service to our patients.
Position Qualifications
Education: Required: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Preferred: Completion of Pharmacy technician training course.
Certification and Registration: Required: Registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy as a Technician Trainee or Certified Pharmacy Technician is required to be validated prior to commencement of employment per IA BOP Rules 657-3.3. AND Certification: National certification must be acquired and maintained from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), or the Natiaonal Healthcareer Association prior to the expiration date of a Pharmacy Technician in Training registration. OR Registration: Registration with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacist-Intern per Board of Pharmacy rules.
Experience: Preferred: Previous Long Term Care Pharmacy Technician Experience Previous Retail Pharmacy Technician or Acute Care Pharmacy Technician experience Previous retail/customer service experience Previous experience in the medical field
Special Skills And Competencies: Tact, diplomacy, accuracy, dependability and typing Knowledge of pharmaceutical names and dosages Must have acceptable accuracy in performing tasks of verbal and written communication, keyboard operation and computer skills, as well as interpretation and use of numerical and graphic materials Must be organized and detail oriented Excellent customer service skills Must follow all laws and regulations related to the practice of pharmacy
