Responsibilities
- Performs data entry tasks including prescription transcription and entry, resolves third-party insurance claim issues, and contacts providers as necessary while maintaining confidentiality.
- Prepares prescription orders in a timely manner; retrieves, counts, measures, and prepares medications, solutions, ointments, and other compounds as directed.
- Ensures all work is checked by a pharmacist.
- Supports the service needs of the pharmacist relative to pharmacy services and maximizes patient care outcomes.
- Communicates to pharmacists and/or pharmacy technician supervisors on malfunctioning equipment and unsafe working conditions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the MA Board of Pharmacy by the hire date.
- National certification from Pharmacy Tech Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam of Certified Pharmacy Techs (exCPT) within 6 months from start date.
- Work experience: 6 months to 1 year preferred.
Qualifications
- Requires a high school diploma or GED.
- Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the MA Board of Pharmacy by the hire date.
- Must maintain national technician certification through PTCB or exCPT.
- Must complete 2 years of education in an approved college/school of pharmacy to be eligible for pharmacy internship and waive required experience.
