Responsibilities

  • Performs data entry tasks including prescription transcription and entry, resolves third-party insurance claim issues, and contacts providers as necessary while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Prepares prescription orders in a timely manner; retrieves, counts, measures, and prepares medications, solutions, ointments, and other compounds as directed.
  • Ensures all work is checked by a pharmacist.
  • Supports the service needs of the pharmacist relative to pharmacy services and maximizes patient care outcomes.
  • Communicates to pharmacists and/or pharmacy technician supervisors on malfunctioning equipment and unsafe working conditions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the MA Board of Pharmacy by the hire date.
  • National certification from Pharmacy Tech Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam of Certified Pharmacy Techs (exCPT) within 6 months from start date.
  • Work experience: 6 months to 1 year preferred.

Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the MA Board of Pharmacy by the hire date.
  • Must maintain national technician certification through PTCB or exCPT.
  • Must complete 2 years of education in an approved college/school of pharmacy to be eligible for pharmacy internship and waive required experience.
