About the role

The Certified Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the interdisciplinary patient care team, ensuring accurate and efficient pharmacy services.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving and verifying the accuracy and authenticity of prescriptions
  • Reviewing and recording patient information with their prescription in compliance with the guidelines of the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Providing instructions to educate people on the correct way to take their medicine
  • Supporting the Pharmacist in the daily operation of the pharmacy
  • Protecting employees and patients by adhering to infection-control protocols and policies
  • Performing inventory control, compliance audits, and financial transactions
  • Maintaining pharmacy records

Requirements

  • High School Degree or GED
  • Licensure/Certification: Valid ExCPT Certification provided by the National Health Career Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification and registration with State Board of Pharmacy (required)
  • Experience: Previous experience working in Retail, Ambulatory, Outpatient, Hospital, Acute Care, or Home Infusion Pharmacy (preferred)

  • Ability to be proactive in a rapidly changing environment
  • Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
  • Possess problem-solving skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medication names, and aseptic technique
