Certified Pharmacy Technician

About the role

Assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state, federal, and company policies. Responsible for using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assists with and coaches pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers.

Responsibilities

• Models and delivers a distinctive and delightful customer experience by greeting customers, offering assistance, resolving issues, and sharing best practices with team members.
• Under pharmacist supervision, assists in pharmacy operations including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine, and checking for interactions.
• Utilizes pharmacy systems to enter data correctly, retrieve and count pharmaceutical drugs, and ensure prescription accuracy.
• Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow, and reports prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
• Adheres to company policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing and the Quality Improvement Program.
• Handles cash transactions, processes manual claims for third-party prescriptions, and performs clerical duties as assigned.
• Assists with inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, checking shipments, and filing claims for discrepancies.
• May assist in administering clinical services, such as collecting and labeling blood/urine samples, and coordinating with healthcare clinics and providers.
• Develops relationships with the local medical community through outreach to physicians, nurses, and health groups.
• Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly pharmacy department, ensuring adequate supplies.
• Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Earns and maintains PTCB certification through the designated program or state-required certification/registration.
• Completes training, PPLs, and continuing education credits as requested.
• Preferred: six months of retail experience, prior Walgreens experience, good math and computer skills, knowledge of inventory control, and PTCB certification.

Pay

Salary Range: $18 - $21.50 per hour.
